Top Comment: There should be a surrender option added to competitive mode. Matchmaking isn’t great and just better time wise to end a match early.

Top Comment: Hey, Era! After sinking over 140 hours into Elden Ring over the last five months, I'm feeling the need for some shorter, tighter experiences before jumping into the next big RPG or open-world game. What are some good short games?

Main Post:

I'm finding it challenging to dedicate a lot of time to gaming due to my daily responsibilities. It seems like completing lengthy games has become quite difficult for me. Can you suggest any awesome short games that I can enjoy despite my limited gaming time?

Top Comment: A Short Hike Game about a small crow/person exploring an island. Sort of emotional. Carrion A metroidvania-esque game about a sentient meat-blob breaking out of a facility. Sort of emotional. Death Road to Canada Oregon Trail meets zombies. Short play sessions. Great for local co-op and solo. FTL Oregon Trail meets spaceships. Short play sessions. Amazing game and soundtrack. Hyper Light Drifter Super stylized metroidvania-esque game about a dude....? With a sword. A bit longer than the others, but not too long. Luftrausers Arcade-y plane game where you heal while not shooting. Freaking awesome game. Controls are immaculate. Manifold Garden Mind-bending puzzle game. Freaking gorgeous. Could beat in a weekend. Sommerville Made by the Inside people. This game doesn't get a lot of praise, but I freaking loved it. Gorgeous graphics. Neat story. I still open it up to this day to replay a few parts because of how cool they are. Stray Cyberpunk meow meow simulator. Pretty good. Ending is surprisingly solid. The Pathless Shadow of the Colossus if it were a movement shooter. Made by the Abzu people. Amazing game. Signalis An homage to old Resident Evil games with a new spin. Not sure how to describe it. If it looks neat to you, you will like it. Webbed What if Banjo-Kazooie was 2D spider? It would be this. Untitled Goose Game It's a meme by now, but actually a fun little game. Honk. Deathloop Figured I'd include a triple-A game here too. Dishonored devs. It was fun. Just enough puzzle elements. Shooting feels pretty good.

In your opinion, what is the best short game?

Main Post:

When I say “short” I generally mean any games that are designed to be quick with their stories but are still good games. I am mainly talking about sub 10 - 20 hour games but any game that fits that theme will do.

Top Comment: Damn, 10-20 hours is considered short? I was thinking of games like a short hike/portal that can be beaten in an afternoon.

Short and sweet games?

Main Post:

I’m tired of every game I play feeling like a 100+ hour time commitment. I want a condensed, quality game with satisfying gameplay.

Any suggestions?

Looking for a short game

Main Post:

Any game recommendations under 15 hours? Just got done playing a few rpgs and need something shorter as a pallet cleanser. I would prefer it be a handheld game (switch/3ds/ds/psp/vita) but isnt not a big deal if its on a console/pc. Platformers are my bread and butter genre but I enjoy all genres beside fps games. Above all else I want a game that grabs me and doesnt let go until its done, Very little fluff and solid gameplay is what im looking for.

Suggest your favourite short games with little fat, preferably very replayable.

Main Post:

Title.

As I've grown older and have more responsibilities like work, chores, relationships etc I realize I've started preferring shorter, more focused games that don't have a lot of bloat/busywork.

I'd say my ideal game length these days is between 15-40h. One thing I love about shorter games is that they're very easy to replay since you don't have to commit 80+ hours to a replay. Here are some games I think fit my criteria:

  • Dishonored 1/3
  • Hotline Miami
  • Most Resident Evil games
  • Evil Within
  • Mirror's Edge
  • The Last of Us
  • Sifu

Top Comment: Hitman World of Assassination its story is short but its got insane replayable levels that you can easily since 100’s of hours into. Its also super easy to put down for a few months and pick it right back up. Definitely one of my favorite video games of all time

Tips for some good, very short games to 100%? 0-5 hours

Main Post:

Like title says, I'm looking for some good games that take at most 5 hours to 100%. I have about 2hrs a day on weekdays to play, so I'm looking for games that take around 1-2 days to finish.

My plan is to try and beat at least two shorter games during a week and dedicate weekends to whatever I'm playing at the moment (currently Sifu, highly recommend!)

Doesn't have to be 10/10s or anything, just something you've enjoyed and want to recommend! Cheers

Edit: Thanks everyone, I didn't expect this many responses! Some of these I've already beat, some I've never even heard of, I really hope these recommendations were of use to some of you, as it was for me! Cheers guys and happy hunting

Top Comment: Firewatch is a trending game that i often see people complete in 4-5 houra Spec Ops: The Line is a favorite of mine, the campaign is only a few hours but requires a max difficulty playthrough that will likely slow you down

What are some must play games that are short in length?

Main Post:

By short I mean 10 hours or less. Just played What remains of Edith Finch and had a pretty good time with it.

Edit: I was going to reply to everyone, but this blew up more than I thought it would. Thank you all for your suggestions!

What are some good short games?

Main Post:

Like many of you here, the daily duties of life have taken a bit of a toll on my gaming time. I've noticed that it's a lot harder to sit down and finish long games, and while I appreciate lengthy CRPGs and meaty open world games, I find that a lot of times they just don't fit my schedule. Instead, I've been noticing that shorter games have basically been the only thing I've been finishing, and they generally feel more rewarding to me. It's also easier to move on from one if I don't really like it, since they're not huge investments. They help me try different genres and get tons of different experiences pretty quickly.

So that's basically all I'm looking for. My definition of short is less than 20 hours to see everything important (not 100%), with 13-15 hours being my sweetspot. I'm aware of howlongtobeat.com, but those numbers don't really reflect any kind of quality. I'm looking for games that you guys have played, and that have positively impacted you. Doesn't have to have been a major impact; just something that made you feel good when you finished it. Finally, the platforms I'm interested would be PC, PS4, and Switch.

Thanks for giving me a bit of your time. Hope you can help me find something fun. :)
